A naturally dyed in-stock colour, this looks like velvet night. The ultimate black for those who say, "I’m only wearing black till they find something darker." Dyed with Indian Myrobalans and iron scrap digested in a fermenting solution of raw sugar, in a process that has many steps and takes many days.

Upon request, we did a test wash with the Blackest Black and Eco Bleach White together (machine washed and dried). There was absolutely no sign of the black dye bleeding or rubbing onto the white.

  • Fibre content: 100% organic cotton
  • Source: India
  • Dye: Myrobalans, the husk of the very abundant tropical almond, with iron solution made from dissolving rusty scrap iron in fermenting raw sugar water.
  • TYRIA fastness rating:  wash fast -- good, shows some softening of the blackest blackness over time; light fast -- excellent; eco rating -- excellent; therapeutic rating -- excellent.
  • Width: 55"
  • Weight per linear yard: 10 oz
  • Commonly used for: Shirts, pants, quilting
  • Recommended care: Machine wash: gentle cycle, warm water, mild soap. Tumble dry on low heat. For smoothest finish, iron from barely damp state on "wrong" side of fabric.
