Called raw silk in the fashion trade, the true designation of this fabric is noil silk. It is a very versatile "peace" silk, spun nubbly thick and like cotton, with a matte surface and drapey hand. It's a very durable fabric useful for all purposes including dresses, men's shirts, lightweight pants, pillows and sheets and children's clothes. It is especially desirable for "sport" clothes and informal wear; because, while it has all the health promoting properties of silk, it does not look "silky". Knit in a tube, it can be used as a cowling or a tube dress. Or it can be cut and sewn as for any knit garment.
