Called raw silk in the fashion trade, the true designation of this fabric is noil silk. It is a very versatile "peace" silk, spun nubbly thick and like cotton, with a matte surface and drapey hand. It's a very durable fabric useful for all purposes including dresses, men's shirts, lightweight pants, pillows and sheets and children's clothes. It is especially desirable for "sport" slothes and informal wear, because, while it has all the health promoting properties of silk, it does not look "silky", which is usually reserved for evening and bedroom wear.
Very easy to care for, this fabric is completely machine washable in natural, (gentle cycle, mild soap, low heat dry).

This fabric is a knit - as far as I know the only knit noil on the market - and it's Peace silk so "no dead bug bodies"!
Knit in a tube, it can be used as a cowling or a tube dress. Or it can be cut and sewn as for any knit garmet.
