QUESTION:
I've been wondering what do you think of this bamboo fiber craze? Is it really all that of a fiber and is it really an environmentally green product? Any opinions on this would be much appreciated-thanks so much for your time-
ANSWER:
No, it is a lie and a fraud. It is Rayon, who knows what it's made from,
they cut down the Panda forests for building and then use the waste of this
and any wood or plant to make pure cellulose (like paper) then with terrible
chemicals they spin it into rayon.
After Jan 1 I heard it has to be properly labeled as Viscose (rayon). It is
a terrible fraud as the ridiculous price should only be paid for true OG or
Farmer Friendly cotton, OG hemp and totally sustainable silk and wool and
the other hair fibres.
But the consumer is deluded and gives money (=economic power) to the ones
who lie and laugh all the way to the bank, while my poor "feisty little
Peace silk farm" is still unfunded.

PS also watch out for so-called OG cotton from China, laced with lycra and
pesticides. Instead check out the lovely 100% cottons from India that I
carry instead.

Thank you so much for your email, I am so glad I asked you about the bamboo fibers. Even Gaiam is selling "bamboo" clothing and touting it as such a green friendly product. I saw some "bamboo" fibers for spinning at Springwater fiber studios yesterday- they must really use some really crazy chemicals to get the raw fibers to look like that. no thanks!
I would love to buy from your store again. I've been using your plant dyed embroidery thread and hemp to sew felt stars and moons and animals and fairies and angels for my 5 year old daughter- I love what you have been doing to the website and all your new products. I dream of buying the awesome fabric that you sell and all your plant dyes!
I live in Northern Va, and there are white mulberry trees galore here that grow wild all over the place, Keep up the great work=)
