A fine silk yarn. This silk is spun of the finest quality, 3" staple, cultivated silk. Very strong and cohesive, excellent for weaving warp, weft, lace knits, crochet, hand sewing and embellishments.
This is often used for quilt embellishment, embroidery, and needlepoint on 13 mesh canvass. Knits at about 6 to 8 stitches to the inch, on size 2 or 3 needles (always do a swatch to check your gauge). Excellent for machine knitting. Perfect warp, sett at 12 to 14 ends per inch. 8/2 metric count, about 1,920 yards per pound.
“This is my #1 silk yarn – the first silk yarn I imported and the first yarn I did my line of Naturally Dyed colours on – back in 1969! It is still my favorite.” –Cheryl

Because much of spun silk is pulled out breeder cocoons, this yarn can be considered about 50% Peace silk. The other part of spun silk fibre is the outer “floss” of the cocoons, which is very strong and lusterous. Thus this yarn-thread has a great durability and high luster.
