

Soft, smoothly spun from lustrous, long staple tussah, wild silk. Think knitted scarves, baby caps, or weaving weft for a durable, drapable fabric. Perfect weft with the fine 2-ply tussah wild silk as warp.
Aproximately 1,800 yards per pound, thickens on washing or dyeing, and reduces in length to about 1,600 yds/lb. The metric count is 4/1 (4,000 meters per kilo). Knits to about 6 stitches per inch.

This yarn is spun in Europe from fibre semi-cultivated in China. As far as we know, the semi-cultivation of Tussah silk in China is done according to organic standards. The oak trees are not sprayed (as this would kill the silkworms) and the strains raised are from the wild and not genetically engineered. Also, as most of the cocoons are free-emergent, this yarn can be considered at least 50% Peace silk.
