Western Style Cotton Shirt

Shukrat in Western Shirt

This shirt is patterned off the favorite shirt of Nazeer Khan the block printer in India.

It has a nice style, with pointed and arched yoke in back, stiffened collar and cuffs that button."Personally, I like to roll up the sleeves; but then I sorta have to. My wrists are strong and thick from 40 years of dyework, so the cuffs just barely fit on me." -Cheryl

ALL “GOOD 4 U “ clothes are 100% NATURAL FIBRE FABRIC and 100% NATURAL DYED COLOURS

ALL “GOOD 4 U “ clothes are 100% HAND PRINTED with 100% NATURAL DYES

ALL “GOOD 4 U” clothes are one of a kind wearable art, that will brighten your spirit as well as feel great on your body.

"FARMER FRIENDLY" all 100% natural cotton, no additives or coatings, just the wonderful herbal natural dye. The dye for tan is a tannin from the husk of the tropical almond, and it promotes skin health. The dye for the melon is related to the beneficial colour of carrots and is also good for the skin.

Tan or melon, with printing in black.  The black print may vary from stark and bold brown-black, called “bold print”,  to a soft, almost blue-black or charcoal, called “light print”. The black dye is made from scrap iron fermented in local raw sugar water, and thickened with ground tamarind seeds.

The aroma of these local natural dyes permeates the fabrics, so that they carry the scent of this exotic sub-continent.

One of a kind pieces subject to prior sale

We describe the printing designs, understanding that each piece is a unique one of a kind.

For the individual block designs, which are named, see our printing blocks!

Note:  All work is hand done.  Irregularities of printing and dyework are part of the charm of each piece.

We have several in melon, but they have spots of violet cast, because they were printed during the monsoon and couldn't get dry. Call if interested, these are discounted to $50 each.
