Radiance Pants

“’Radiance” was the name of a magazine for Radiantly Large Women. It came out of San Francisco for a few years in the early 80’s.  I so wanted to put some wonderful outfit in a picture ad.  Then I plunged into my own radiance, and finally, here are the garments.”  - Cheryl

ALL “GOOD 4 U” clothes are one of a kind wearable art, that will brighten your spirit as well as feel great on your body.  

Very adjustable, with a same fabric draw string.  The yoke hangs nicely on the hips, then the pant legs gently gather where there is the natural break from hips to legs. 

The waist can be tied at your natural waist, or lower, like a ‘hip-hugger’, or even higher, under the bust, for a kind of ‘Empire’ look.

ACTUAL MEASUREMENTS:

WAIST (adjustable with draw string): 54” (138 cm)

HIPS:  55”  (140 cm)

YOKE DEPTH: 8” (20 cm)

INSEAM  (the cuff catches fabric at the ankles, where it softly billows, so it’s meant to be a bit long):  36”  (91cm)

LENGTH (from waist to cuff): 42” (107 cm)

The fabric for this first offering is a light weight but durable Farmer Friendly Cotton.

The colour of the ground is Tan, dyed in a minimum water technique, so it is some what mottled.  The dye used is Myrobalans, the husk of the tropical almond. 

The hand block printing is done in black.  The printing solution is made from scrap iron fermented in a raw sugar mixture.  The black of the print may vary from stark and bold brown-black, called “bold print”,  to a soft, almost blue-black or charcoal, called “light print”.

All blocks are new designs created and copyrighted by Cheryl Kolander of Aurora Silk.  All printing is done by hand and each piece is signed by the block print artist.

We describe the printing designs, understanding that each piece is a unique one of a kind.

"Belt" refers to printing that goes around the yoke.  These are printed all the way around: a belt of affection encircling the hips.

Legs: refers to printing on the front of the pants legs.  According to the traditional design sense of the block artist, only the front of the pant legs are printed.  Typically designs are from the ankles to the knees, with the thighs left plain.

Note:  All work is hand done.  Irregularities of printing and dyework are part of the charm of each piece.
