Ahimsa 3-ply

Ahimsa 3-ply fabric.

AHINMA tm PEACE SILK noil is from cocoons from which the moth has completed its transformation and emerges free and happy.  Aurora Silk is pleased to be the exclusive distributor for this finest quality Cruelty-free Mulberry (cultivated Bombyx) silk fabric.

The production in India has been personally visited by Cheryl Kolander in November 2006 and we are happy to report that all aspects of the operation are clean, healthy and honorable (absolutely no child labor, nor slavery; cocoons are raised in small family farms without the use of pesticides herbicides, antibiotics, genetic engineering or any other practice of disrepute.) The Ahimsa label is patented to our partner-producer in India.

"Peace" silk, also called vegetarian silk, is from cocoons from which the moth has completed its transformation and emerges free and happy.  For more information, read Cheryl's "About Peace Silk" article.

This fabric's warp and weft are both smooth spun Ahimsa™ Peace Mulberry silk. Staple is aproximately 2" and the yarns are plied for luster, hand and durability.  The warp yarn is two-ply, and the weft in this new creation is a 3-ply, multi-ply.  This gives the fabric a substantial hand and exceptional durability.
