CREAM = Finest Ahimsa Peace silk noil
best "SPA WRAP" ever
Ahimsa™ Fine Spun Peace Noil Silk
This fabric's warp and weft are both spun Ahimsa™ Peace
silk. "Peace" silk, also called vegetarian silk, is from cocoons
from which the moth has completed its transformation and emerges free
and happy. For more information, read Cheryl's "About Peace Silk" article.
Peace silk noil is spun from the shorter fibres combed out of the Ahimsa silk cocoons as it is being prepared for the smooth spun yarns and fabrics.** It is distinctive from regular commercial noil (often called "Raw Silk") because there are no ground up crysalids that show as dark flecks in regular commercial noil fabrics. So the fabric is pure natural white "CREAM" coloured, without being bleached. Noil staple is approximately 1/2 ", plus the characteristic little "noils", which are the fine tangles of silk that form in the coming process.
In this fabric, the weft is the noil yarn, and it is spun exceptionally finely. It's actually a doubled singles, that gives the fabric a nice crepe like hand, one that crinkles up slightly once washed, and gives nice stretchiness to the fabric.
The warp is a very fine 2-ply of regular combed ahimsa. This combination gives a distinctive fabric, very soft,
with a glow - like whipped cream! It has a drapey hand and excellent durability.
