Tussah fabric is extremely durable. Though usually not as soft as cultivated silk, this tussah has been bleached to a light cream, which softens the fibre. The warp is spun from combed fibres, about 2" long, and the weft is continuous filament.

Fabric Information

Fibre content: 100% Tussah, wild silk. From semi-cultivated plantations of oak trees and Tussah silk caterpillars in China.

Weight per linear yard: 10 oz
Commonly used for: Robes, pants, skirts, jackets, slip covers, bedding, window curtains.
Weft (width) shrinkage: 7%
Warp (length) shrinkage: 2%
Recommended care: Machine wash: gentle cycle, warm water, mild soap. Tumble dry on low heat. For smoothest finish, iron from barely damp state on "wrong" side of fabric.
