Our only oil-soluble dye! The bright red seeds of the "Lipstick Plant" give their orange red dye readily into oil.
This makes Bixa (bee-sha) an ideal natural dye for candles. Simply heat in oil or hot wax, to extract the dye from the seeds, then strain.
This is also an approved food dye, used commonly to give cheddar cheese its orange look. Has a mild but pleasant flavour and is a nice addition to any red sauce.
Our Bixa is wildcrafted from free growing plants in the Dominican Republic.
