Fusticwood extract: Yellow

Gives soft golden toned yellows.

Pre mordant fabric with alum, for clearest yellow; tin for rosy tinted gold “The colour I call Aurora” –Cheryl

The gold-yellows can be modified to soft greens by addition of either Iron mordant or Copper mordant, or both to the dye solution, or these can be painted on afterwards to change the tones.

Concentrated liquid.  Dilute with water for painting.  For immersion dyework, use at about 25% by weight of fabric.  For fabric, leather or paper painting you may use as “water colour”, that is, just diluted with water, or you may thicken the liquid with any thickener, such as cornstarch, carageenan, gum Arabic or plain white flour boiled in water.  For more instruction details, see the tutorial on paint dyeing.
