See the illustration: most colours dye two-toned, with the raw silk darker and the bright stripes lighter. The gauze ground of this exceptionally pretty veil fabric is true raw silk, that is, reeled silk which still has all its gum. This makes a sturdy though almost completely transparent fabric. Holding it together is the spaced weft shots of bright and shiny white boucle. This boucle is spun of a very fine Rayon. Rayon is a reconstituted cellulose fibre, meant to provide a lower cost alternative to shiny reeled-silk. Most rayon from India is spun from cotton waste, and is therefore a type of recycled fibre.
