"Peace" Silk Collection

Peace Kit

Especially designed for students, teachers, and Science Fair inspirations!

"Peace" silk means that the life cycle of the silk producing caterpillar is allowed to naturally fulfill itself. The transformation of the caterpillar into the dormant chrysalis and then the winged silk moth is complete.

"I received the package with the educational material and it is absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much for shipping it so quickly. It far exceeded my expectations. The timing was perfect too because my two children are studying life cycles in school...3rd and 5th grade. So, they took the display to school today to share with their class." - K. O.

*Spun silk: Aproximately half of the silk in spun silk yarn/fibre/fabric is Peace silk, because it comes from the breeder cocoons. All raisers must allow some moths to emerge and mate, to lay eggs for the next year. The additional fibre comes from the outer part of cocoons as they are prepared for reeling. Commercially, these are all processed together: degummed, pulled apart and combed for spinning.
