Comments: I just read Cheryl's article on natural dyes and I agree with what she has to say about natural vs. chemical dyes. I am a spinner and natural dyer. I mostly dye the wool yarn I spin. I have been dyeing with natural dyes since 1980. Unfortunately, I have not been able to make a living with my art. ; When I go to festivals to sell my handknit, natural dyed items knit from handspun wool, I get a lot of compliments on the colors and how beautiful the natural dyes are, but if there is a spinner next to me selling handknits dyed with synthetic dyes, she will outsell me every time???!! This I don't understand. I have been able to get the most gorgeous oranges with the Madder Root and wonderful blues with the logwood that I purchased from Aurora Silk. It is very sad that artists like myself cannot sell these beautiful things, but the harmful dyed items get purchased and worn by babies and children, ugh!
