This exceptionally lustrous hemp yarn is made from fiber grown and processed in Eastern Europe, using organic methods. The hemp yarn is very evenly spun, a rare feat for staple this long and yarn this fine. Its evenness makes this an excellent beading choice.
Very strong, and virtually impossible to break by hand, this yarn will make the sturdiest of crochets and laces.
This hemp is soft to the hand, without the itchiness of the hemp twines, while retaining the hallmark sturdiness of the hemp fiber. Unlike the hemp twines which become felted and dull after washing, this yarn will become more beautiful and lustrous with washing
Artists and designers with special needs may contact Master Natural Dyer Cheryl Kolander, who IS Aurora Silk, regarding curent supplies of quality hemp (if available).
We recommend Beginner’s Natural Dye Kit: Fun with Natural Dyes as excellent for colours on hemp. The Indigo Natural Fermentation Vat Kit is especially good for hemp as "Hemp dyes the darkest of all fibres, in the Indigo vat" - Cheryl Kolander, Master Natural Dyer.
